Prof. Dr. Peter Glotz
is former member of the constitutional convention of the EU and is an experienced media policy-maker. As a student in Munich and Vienna, his areas of study included Journalism, Philosophy, German Literature and Sociology. During his 26-year political career he was member of the Bavarian Parliament and a member for many years of the German Parliament, Senator for Science and Research and Federal Director of the Social Democrats. In 1996 he retired from all political offices and to become Director of the University of Erfurt and Professor of Communications Studies. From 2000 to 2003, he was Guest Professor of Media and Society at the University of St. Gallen. Since 2004 he is the director of the MBA studies (Media and Communications) at the University of St. Gallen.

Borris Brandt
has been Managing Director of Endemol Germany since 2001. Prior to this, he was responsible for in-house productions at Pro Sieben Media AG before becoming Program Director. In 2000 he moved to Senator Film AG as director of the Music and New Media department.

Erik Bettermann
has been Director of Deutsche Welle since October 2001. He attended the Universities of Cologne and Bonn, where he studied Philosophy, Pedagogic and Social Pedagogic, and the Cologne Business School. Following freelance journalistic work and positions in the field of international youth work, Betterman's professional positions included Head of the Office of the Vice President of the German Parliament and Deputy General Director of the Social Democrats before becoming State Counsellor to the Senator for Federal Affairs and Plenipotentiary for Federal Affairs, Europe and Development Work in Bremen.

Barry Cupples
has been with OMD as the CEO for Central and Eastern Europe since 2001. He began his career in 1987 with GREY in London. Monika Diekert
works for PriceWaterhouseCoopers as specialist in the field of Czech and international direct taxation since 1991. In 1995 she became a partner at PWC, where she developed and directed the taxation and legal operations of Czech PWC firm. Since 2004 she is located in Berlin, where she is responsible for the development of PWC's Central and Eastern European markets, including in the new EU states. M. Diekert studied Accountancy and Information at the Prague University of Business. She is a member of the Chamber Tax Advisers in the Czech Republic and of the International Fiscal Association.

Attila Arpa
is a freelance Producer, Author and Director. He previously worked as a Producer and Creative Director for RTL Klub. Born in Germany, he grew up in Munich and studied Media Industry and Dramaturgy at the University for Film and Drama in Budapest and at the University of California. In 2003 his book "If I told you this about the Klub" was published Hungary, creating furor with its behind-the-scenes glimpses in the Hungarian media industry. His first feature film will be released this year in Hungary.

Wolfgang Closs
has been Executive Director of the European Audiovisual Observatory in Strasbourg since 2000. From 1994 to 2000 he was Managing Director of the Institute for European Media Law (EMR) Saarbrücken/Brussels/Bern. From 1972 to 1991 he held a number of senior positions in the civil service attached to the Saarland Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Environment. Closs studied Law at the University of Saarland and Management and Economics at the Rhineland-Palatinate Business School. He is a member of various national and international media committees.

Branka Zovko-Cihlar
was President of the Croatian Radio and Television Authority from 2000 to 2004 and responsible for legislation, regulation and the negotiation of license for radio and TV. Recently she took over the Directorship of the "Multimedia Communication Systems" project being conducted by the Croatian Ministry of Science and Technology. B. Zovko-Cihlar is a Professor at the University of Zagreb and is frequently asked to speak at international conferences on the theme of digital video broadcasting. She is the author of "Noise in Radio Communication" and has contributed over 180 articles to numerous international publications.

Richard Rybnícek
has been General Director of Slovakian Television (STV) since 2003. He studied Philosophy in Bratislava and Political Science and International Relations in Bonn. He was a Political Journalist for the Czech-Slovakian press agency CTK (previously CSTK), then spokesperson for the Mayor of Bratislava, before becoming General Director of the Institute of Public Affairs. He was subsequently Manager of Ceská Produkcní 2000 and then became General Director of TV JOJ.

Prof. Dr. Johannes Kreile
is a lawyer with the Munich firm of Nörr Stiefenhofer Lutz and is the leading legal adviser to the Federal Association of German Television Producers. He has studied law, economics and theatre studies and is the author of various publications on the media and copyright. Prof. Kreile lectures at the College of Film and Television in Munich, the Bavarian Academy of Advertising and Marketing and the Bavarian Academy of Television.

Ilmar Raag
has been Chairman of the Board of Eesti Television since 2002. Previously he was Head of Programs and responsible for the acquisition of programs for Estonian Television. I. Raag studied Art History at the University of Tartu in Estonia. At the University of Paris he studied "Cultural Management in Europe" and graduated as Maître du Cinéma. At the MA Ohio University he studied TV- and Film Production. Following graduation he gained international experience in the media branch as well as in the fields of co-production and distribution, to mention only a few. He then worked as correspondent for two Estonian dailies in Paris, was a Film critic and developed a radio talk-show as well as the cinema news program "Ffriik" for Eesti Televisioon.

Henning Röhl
studied Philosophy, History, German Language and Literature in Vienna and Fribourg. He started his TV carreer as Politics Journalist at the Südwestfunk (SWF). Ten years later he had advanced to Deputy Editor in Chief of SWF (radio station). Thereafter he changed to Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) in Hamburg, where he became Director of the NDR-Broadcasting Centre (Schleswig Holstein). In 1988 he moved on to the ARD-News Department “ARD-aktuell” (Tagesschau, Tagesthemen) to become its Editor in Chief.
1991 he was appointed Director of the newly founded ARD TV-broadcasting station MDR (Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk) in Leipzig. After having worked for a public broadcaster for 36 years all in all he moved on to the commercial TV station Bibel TV, Hamburg, which he has headed as Managing Director since 2001.

Katja Hofem-Best
has been working for RTL2 as producer for different entertainment programs since 1996 before she became head of the entertainment department in 1999. She studied Political Science, American Studies and Communications Theory at the University of Augsburg.

Petr Dvorák
is CEO of TV Nova, the leading commercial television station Czech TV. He studied Commercial Administration at the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business (MBA). At the Technical University in Prague he majored in Technical Cybernetics. Following graduation he gained international experience in the media branch.
Mr. Dvorák is member of the board of managers of the PPF group, the biggest private financial enterprise in the Czech Republic, active mainly in insurance, finance and media.

Dr. Franz Stark
was Chief Correspondent TV in Central and Eastern Europe from 1995 to 2003.
He started his career as Politics Journalist after his studies of
Philosophy, Communications Theory and German Literature as Editor in 1964.
In 1967 he came to TV Bayerischer Rundfunk, Muenchen and held leading
positions e.g. Senior Editor, Deputy Chief Editor and Presenter. In 2003 he
retired. Now he is working as Freelancer as Consultant and TV-Trainer in
Central and Eastern Europe.

Patrick Jucaud
is the founder of the DISCOP Organization, a company that has been
facilitating TV business in the emerging television marketplaces of Central
& Eastern Europe for the last 15 years. The DISCOP Organization also
produces the annual Budapest-based DISCOP content market founded in 1991 and
now attended by 150 major international content Sellers and 500 Buyers
representing the television, mobile, DVD, theatrical distribution, licensing
and broadband forces of Central & Eastern Europe.
